A mix of 20 packets of vegetable seeds suitable for Autumn and/or Winter sowing. A list and individual pictures of all included varieties is below. Click on an image for more detailed information. *Please note this mix of seeds contains some varieties that are restricted in certain states.  Customers from these states are welcome to purchase this item but we will substitute the restricted seeds for another variety of our choosing or process a credit/refund for any omitted items.   • 1 x Kale- Red Russian (Brassica oleracea)

    Kale is a primitive leaf vegetable. 'Red Russian' is one of the most popular varieties; it grows to 75cm at a fast rate and has blue/green/red tinged serrated leaves with red veins. The young leaves are eaten raw like lettuce, the old leaves cooked like cabbage. Has a sweet flavour. Less prone to cabbage moth (and caterpillars) than other varieties.

    Kale is also known as Borecole.

  • 1 x Chinese Mustard- Golden Streaks (Brassica japonica)

    Fast growing plants with very attractive fine lacy bright green foliage. Mild sweet mustard flavour. Perfects for salads and sandwiches. Can be grown as a microgreen. This variety is often also referred to as Mizuna.

  • 1 x Mustard Greens- Komatsuna (Brassica rapa)

    Annual leaf vegetable. Tall rounded green leaves with thick juicy stem. Upright growth habit. Mild mustard/cabbage flavour. Usually eaten cooked in stir-fries or steamed or boiled, can be added to soups or used fresh as a salad green. Hardy and easy to grow. Also known as "Japanese Mustard Spinach".

  • 1 x Cabbage, Chinese- Tokyo Bekana (Brassica rapa pekinensis)

    Fast growing non-heading variety with bright green ruffled leaves. Crunchy juicy texture and a sweet mild flavour similar to lettuce. Great alternative to lettuce. Good for baby-leaf production. Can be eaten raw or cooked.

  • 1 x Lettuce- Oakleaf Red (Lactuca sativa)

    Looseleaf variety. Green/red leaves that mature to a burgundy red colour. Leaves resemble oak tree leaves. Does well in hot weather. Excellent flavour. Good variety for baby leaves.

  • 1 x Wild Rocket (Diplotaxis tenuifolia)

    Perennial growing to 40cm. Plants have an upright habit and are grown for their deeply serrated leaves which have a strong peppery flavour similar to rocket but far more pungent. Is most commonly used as a salad green but can also be used cooked; makes an excellent addition to stir fries. Very popular in Italian cuisine. Can be grown in containers. Can be grown for baby leaf. Also known as Perennial Rocket, Wall Rocket, White Rocket and Sylvetta.

  • 1 x Celtuce (Lactuca sativa var. asparagina)

    Celtuce is named after its characteristics that are somewhat like a cross between celery and lettuce. Younger leaves are picked and used like normal lettuce, stems are used as a vegetable and have a flavour that is comparable to celery. Stems grow to around 20-30cm and have a crisp texture. Can be eaten raw or cooked. Good in stir fries, salads and as a steamed vegetable. Very popular in Asia, especially China. Also known as Stem Lettuce, Celery Lettuce, Wosun, Woju, Chinese Lettuce and Asparagus Lettuce. Easy to grow.

    Large dark shiny green curled leaves. Young leaves are eaten raw as a salad green, older leaves are cooked as a leaf vegetable. Spinach is best suited to cooler climates.

  • 1 x Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)

    Perennial growing to 25cm. Grows in slowly spreading clumps. Plant has green, hollow, tubular leaves that have a mild onion flavour; used as a garnish, in sauces, dips, stews, casseroles, salads and soups. Can be grown in containers.

  • 1 x Chicory- Treviso Red (Cichorium intybus)

    Italian heirloom variety. Upright elongated heads made of dark green and white leaves that mature to a deep red. Leaves are crunchy and have slightly bitter flavour and are used both raw as a salad green and cooked as a vegetable. Named after the town Trevisio in Italy where it originates from. Plants do best in cooler weather; growing in cooler weather produces heads that are sweeter and more red in colour. Heads grown in warmer weather tend to develop a more bitter flavour. Can be grown in containers. Is a good variety for growing baby leaves.

    Large pale green heads with attractive spiralling pattern that grow to 20cm. Very tender and excellent flavour. Does best in cooler weather. This variety is often eaten raw and is very attractive in salads but can also be cooked with only a small loss of flavour.

    Small round white/silver skinned bulbs with mild flavour; can be eaten raw or cooked; great in salads, stir-fries and sandwiches. Good variety for growing 'spring onions', with leaves that are ready in around 50 days with great flavour. Can be grown in containers. Bulbs are a great size for pickling. Quick growing.

  • 1 x Silverbeet- Ruby Red (Beta vulgaris)

    Biennial normally grown as an annual, growing to 60cm. Dark green leaves with red veins and stems. Excellent flavour; slightly unique. Very attractive both in the garden and in meals. Good variety for growing baby leaves. Silver beet is also known as "Swiss Chard" and is often confused with "Spinach".
