A cream coloured potato with patches of pink skin, the fluffiness of the King Edward makes it a standout variety. Ideal for baking, jacket potatoes or oven baked chips and wedges. 

This variety is indeterminate: as potato foliage grows cover 70% of the stems with straw or other compost to increase yields. Be sure to practice crop rotation year on year to reduce the risk of disease.

How To Grow

Store seed potatoes in a cool, dry place until ready to plant.

Garden:

  1. Choose a position in full sun with well drained soil.
  2. Dig over soil and enrich with compost and well-rotted manure and blood and bone.
  3. Make trenches 20cm deep and 75cm apart.
  4. Place potatoes in the trenches 30cm apart and backfill.
  5. Fill in trenches with soil.
  6. As plants grow, continue to mound soil or mulch around stems.
  7. For new potatoes, harvest when leaves begin to yellow. For larger potatoes, harvest in autumn or when plant dies back.

Potato Bag:

  1. Choose a position in full sun.
  2. Add approx. 15cm of soil mixed with compost and well-rotted manure and blood and bone to the bag.
  3. Add 3 or 4 potatoes and cover with soil.
  4. Roll down the sides of bag so potatoes recieve good light.
  5. As plants grow continue to add soil and compost and mulch around stems, unrolling the bag as you go.
  6. Harvest as for garden growing.
