Mignonette
I sowed these in late autumn with 10 other flower seeds, and the Mignonettes were one of the most successful. Their flowers were so surprising, due to their gorgeous fragrance. I'd be in the garden and catch a breath of waterlillies in the air. I'd look to the dam, and think, "It smells like freesia, too." But freesia weren't flowering. Only when smelling a Mignonette flower directly did I realise where the waterlily-freesia scent was coming from. Delightful! As a cut flower, visually, they are unimpressive and even scrappy looking, so I'd hide them in the middle of bouquets I gave, to give each bunch an amazing scent. Bees loved the mignonette flower spikes as much as poppies! I'm buying again to enjoy for another spring! Very long lived in a vase, and they fill a room with delicate scent, the way sweet peas do.
