Short lived perennial with dark green leaves and large clusters of flowers from mid-spring to mid-summer. Flowers are in pink, purple and white and have a lovely evening fragrance similar to cloves. Young leaves are edible and can be used in salads or as a cress substitute, they have a bitter slightly mustard flavour. Flowers and petals can also be eaten or added to salads. Great for meadow plantings or cut flowers. Tolerates poor soil conditions. Drought tolerant once established. Also known as "Dames Violet" or "Dames Rocket".
