Perennial grown as an annual in cool climates. Very popular Greek variety producing attractive long cylindrical fruit growing to 22cm. Delicious firm mild flavoured flesh. Commonly used in stews, sauces, baked, fried, stuffed and grilled. Eggplant is also known as "Aubergine". "Greek eggplant".


How to sow and grow:

Method: Sow direct or raise seedlings

When: Spring or after frost
Germination: 7-14 days @ 24-32°C
Hardiness / Life Cycle: Frost tender Perennial (grown as an annual in cool climates)

Germinate in towel first

They didn't want to come up directly in soil, but I tried germinating in wet paper towel and they sprouted at about 50-75%. I put them into soil from the towel and they seem to be going great now.
