Allium acuminatum

Synonyms: Allium marrayanum

NOT TO TAS, WA

  • Lavender pink flowers
  • Good cut flower

Herbaceous perennial growing to 35cm. Green strappy leaves are followed by small, long-lasting umbels covered in star-like lavender pink flowers. Flowers late spring to early summer. The leaves, flowers and bulbs are all edible and have a strong onion taste; use in small quantities.

Suited to growing in beds and borders in dry gardens, will also grow in containers. Plant in clumps or drifts of 15 bulbs and allow to naturalise over time. An excellent cut flower both fresh and dried. Attracts bees and butterflies. Drought tolerant once established.
