Popular climbing Asian vegetable which grows on a vine up to 5m tall. The vine leaves and shoots can be eaten when young as salad greens. Fruit are oblong with a waxy warty appearance and are usually eaten when young and green, but will ripen to yellow if left on the vine. The melons are usually eaten cooked and are similar in texture to a cucumber but with a bitter capsicum flavour. Popular in curries or stir-fries.
