Popular vegetable originating in Portugal. Large loose leaf plant grown for its fleshy cabbage style leaves which are traditionally used in soup. Large green leaves with thick white veining and stems. Succulent leaves with a sweet cabbage flavour. More heat tolerant than other brassicas. Also know as "Portuguese cabbage" & "Portuguese kale".

27 August 2020Wow, a wonderful leaf cabbage, very productive with a great mild flavour. The stems are edible, crunchy moist and not fibrous like Kale. This leaves (no Pun) curly kale in the dust.
