Heavy Duty Hand Held Grafting Tool
- Make close-fitting grafts without a grafting knife
- Makes notch, double notch, omega and bud grafts
- Easy to use
Hand held grafting tool to achieve four types of grafts without the need for a grafting knife. The heavy duty tool uses a lever action to cut branches, easily achieving professional standard grafts on fruit trees, roses and other ornamental trees and shrubs. Can be used to make V-shaped notch grafts, English double-notch grafts and interlocking omega grafts on branches up to 14mm in diameter, as well as bud grafts (chip grafts). Also known as an 'Italian grafting tool'.
How to make notch, English double notch and omega grafts:
1. Select stock plant (rootstock) and scion (shoot to be grafted) branches with the same branch diameter.
2. Hold the grafting stock in the grafting tool and squeeze the handle to make the cut. Repeat this step for both the stock plant and the scion.
3. Slide the scion into the groove of the stock plant, matching the cut surfaces as closely as possible.
4. Bind the graft with grafting tape to protect the join against bacteria and weather while it heals.
5. Use the pruner to remove any small side branches near the graft.
How to make bud grafts:
1. Attach the anvil and bud grafting blade using a phillips head screwdriver.
2. Place the branch or stem of the plant that is to be grafted into the cutting holder.
3. Press the lever to make the cut. Repeat for both the stock plant and the donor plant (bud to be grafted).
4. Insert the bud into the notch on the stock plant.
5. Bind the graft with grafting tape to protect the join against bacteria and weather while it heals.
A phillips head screwdriver is needed to change the cutting blades.
Made in Italy.
