Description

Jonquil- Soleil d'Or (Bulb)

Narcissus tazetta

NOT FOR TAS, WA

  • Clusters of yellow flowers with an orange cup
  • Sweetly scented
  • Flowers mid to late winter

A bright, perfumed jonquil that blooms early in the season, often in mid to late winter. Each stem bears clusters of pure yellow flowers with an egg-yolk yellow cup, with more than 20 flowers per stem once established. A tough bulb suited to cool to subtropical climates that will naturalise in the garden to flower year after year.

Jonquils, also known as 'scented daffodils', are the earliest daffodils to bloom. They produce fragrant clusters of very short-cupped mid-size flowers on each stem. The stems are holllow and the strappy foliage has a rounded tip. Jonquils are easy to grow and can be planted in containers, beds or borders, under deciduous trees or en masse. A popular cut flower. For the best display, plant in groups of as least 5 bulbs.
