A perennial with 50cm long strappy green leaves and 2m tall red stems bearing clusters of green-yellow flowers in late spring and summer. Will form a large clump up to 1m wide, spreading by underground rhizomes. Use in native gardens, mixed borders or mass planted. Flowers will attract birds and can be used fresh or dried as cut flowers. A reliable variety that is easy to grow and adaptable to most soil types.
Note: Seeds of many native plants are dormant and will not germinate until ideal environmental conditions are met. Follow instructions for pre-treatment and sowing, and be patient; some wild harvested seeds can take much longer to germinate than expected.

Kangaroo Paw- Green/Yellow
Little honey eating birds like the Eastern spinebill really love the mixture of kangaroo paw I've grown near my lounge window. I always plant the whole packet in a big tray of sieved native compost. Once they have about 3 or 4 leaves I gently separate them into pots under my pergola for a few months where they get afternoon sun. When they're about 15 cm high I plant them, watering early mornings on hot days. Like many things they take time. Mine are so tall they almost touch the eves of the house. They are fabulous.
