Perennial shrub to 150cm with open sprawling habit and woody stems. Produces an abundance of 1-2cm oval shaped edible red to orange berries in summer. Berries can be consumed fresh but are often dried and used in both sweet and savory dishes. Flavour is similar to sour cherries or cranberries. Semi deciduous in cool climates. Can be grown in containers. Also known as 'Chinese Wolfberry', 'Boxthorn' and 'Duke of Argyll's teaplant'.
