Perennial herb growing to 45cm. Compact clump forming shrub with small glossy leaves and masses of small pink flowers over a long period. Strong flavour and fragrance described like a minty oregano. Good for container planting. Tolerant of poor soil conditions and hot, dry weather. Has culinary uses and is often used in Italian cuisine. Leaves can be harvested fresh and used like a fresh herb or dried for use. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies and beneficial insects. Lesser Calamint is a member of mint family but doesn't spread by runners like other mint varieties. Dormant over winter in cold climates. Also known as "Mentuccia" or "Nepitella".
