Description
'Tomato- Dwarf Striped Antho' seeds
Solanum lycopersicon
Synonyms: Lycopersicon esculentum
- Dwarf plant (determinate growth)
- Normal, small to mid-sized striped 'antho' fruit
- Mildly sweet, fruity, slightly earthy flavour
A dwarf plant with normal sized fruit that are mildly sweet, with fruity and slightly earthy undertones. Dark red-black fruits ripen to striped red and yellow with a blue-purple antho colouration at the stem end. Fruits are small to mid-size. Determinate growth.
Dwarf tomato plants grow 70-120cm tall and tend to have thicker stems. Staking is required to support the weight of the developing fruit. They are ideal for growing in pots, and perfect for snacking or in salads.
Antho refers to anthocyanins (a naturally occurring plant pigment) that give the skin of the fruit a dark, blue-purple-black colouration when exposed to sunlight. It is especially noticeable on the shoulders of the fruit and can vary in intensity on different tomatoes on the same plant.
